Clarivein Q & A

What are varicose veins?

Varicose veins are thick, bulging veins that develop due to faulty valves in your veins that allow blood to flow back and pool. Any vein in your body can develop into a varicose vein, but they most often occur in the legs. Both men and women can be affected by varicose veins.

You may be interested in treatment for your varicose veins because you don’t like how they look, but varicose veins may also be a sign of venous insufficiency, which can affect the circulation in your legs and lead to health issues such as the development of leg ulcers that don’t heal.

Dr. Eden Giammaria is a vascular and aesthetic specialist who can examine your varicose veins and circulation to assess your health and risk as well as treat the unsightly veins with tools such as ClariVein IC.

What is ClariVein IC?

ClariVein IC is a minimally invasive tool Dr. Eden Giammaria uses to treat varicose veins at her office. The specialty infusion catheter is equipped with a wire tip that has the ability to rotate 360 degrees, which allows Dr. Eden Giammaria to disperse the medication she uses to close your vein evenly and effectively.

Treatment with ClariVein IC doesn’t require anesthesia and is a relatively painless procedure. The needle is also quite small, which means less bruising and a faster recovery.

What can I expect during treatment with ClariVein IC?

Treatment of your varicose veins with ClariVein IC is quick, usually taking about 30 minutes. During the procedure, Dr. Eden Giammaria inserts the ClariVein IC needle into your vein and releases the mechanical catheter, which travels as far as it can into your vein. She then triggers the mechanical tip of the catheter to rotate and disperse the medication into your vein, and then she slowly moves the tip back through your vein, injecting medication as she goes, to the entry point.

Once the vein has been fully treated, she removes the catheter and applies pressure to the needle stick and covers the area with a bandage.

There’s no downtime following treatment with ClariVein IC, and you should be able to resume your usual activities when you leave the office.

And once your varicose veins have been treated with ClariVein IC, they don’t come back.
